Emergency healthcare in Nepal is my passion and I believe an improvement in the current scenario can only happen with an all-inclusive effort where efficacy is maximized and redundancies are optimized. When I am not thinking about healthcare in Nepal or working in the ED, I usually like to be outdoors, running, biking, or hiking.
Sanjeeb S Bhandari, MD, FAWM
A Nepali emergency physician from Pokhara, practicing in the US. Passionate about the development of Emergency Care in Nepal as a backbone of basic healthcare. Interested in medical education, wilderness medicine, and public health. When not in the hospital, he likes being outdoors: hiking, mountain biking, or running.
Subarna Adhikari, MD
An orthopedics and mountain medicine trained physician from Nepal who is undergoing a new residency in Emergency Medicine in the US. Improvement of Emergency healthcare and consolidation of Emergency Medicine training in Nepal are two of my ongoing life goals. Hiking is a hobby and you will find me walking a trail whenever I am not home reading a book or working in a hospital.
Nishant Dhakal, MD
A General Practitioner from Nepal, who did his academics from IOM, Kathmandu. After spending about half a decade serving in rural and resource-poor areas of Nepal, he is currently working in the emergency department of HAMS hospital, Kathmandu. He is familiar with the Emergency/overall healthcare status of the country, its needs and areas that need improvement and he believes that much needs to change, which can be brought about with a good team effort.
Kamal Thapa, MD
A General practitioner and an emergency physician currently working in Grande International Hospital in Kathmandu. He has experience working in rural parts of Nepal. He is passionate about emergency medicine, helicopter EMS, and medical education. When not working in the hospital you can find him hiking, mountain biking, or working on his research projects.
Suman Acharya, MBBS
Dr. Acharya is a current Internal medicine resident at TUTH, Institute of medicine. After graduating from medical school at Tribhuvan University, Institute of medicine he spent a couple of years gaining experience in rural medicine. His areas of interest include emergency medical services, critical care medicine, high altitude medicine, and medical education.
Olita Shilpakar, MD, DM
Dr. Shilpakar is an emergency physician working in the largest teaching tertiary care Hospital in Nepal. After graduating from medical school and completion of internship she worked in different emergency departments. She completed her general practice and emergency medicine residency from TUTH and has been working in one of the biggest emergency departments in Kathmandu. She currently works as an assistant professor of emergency medicine at the TUTH emergency department. She is passionate about emergency trauma management, emergency airway management, and medical education.
Sanjay Karki, MD
Dr. Karki is the first emergency medicine trained physician of Nepal and has been working in Emergency department in Kathmandu for a decade. He has worked in the commencement of and improvement of Helicopter EMS in Nepal. He has also completed the masters in health and welfare.
Rajesh Sharma, MBBS
Dr. Sharma is an intern doctor at TU Teaching Hospital. His interest includes emergency medicine and mountain medicine. He is passionate about improving emergency healthcare in Nepal. He believes that partnership and mutual collaboration helps in better development of emergency medicine in Nepal. He usually likes to be outdoor, running or hiking, and teaching medical students about basic wilderness medicine and survival skills.
Badri Aryal, MBBS
A young physician from Syanja, Nepal, Dr. Aryal has experience working as a sole provider in a rural Primary healthcare center in western Nepal. He completed his medical school training and internship at TU IOM. He is a current Internal Medicine Resident in US. His areas of interest includes emergency critical care, and implementation of government policies to strengthen emergency care in rural and sub-urban parts of Nepal.
Asta Shreekrishna Paudel, MBBS
A young doctor from Pokhara who is interested in emergency care and health systems management. After completion of medical school and internship at TUTH in Kathmandu, he has been working in rural parts of Nepal as a generalist medical officer who is responsible for primary care and inpatient needs of rural population along with the implementation of public health policies.
